What is Capoeira?
Created by slaves in the North East of Brazil about 400 years ago, Capoeira had to be practiced in secret lest its lethal potential be discovered by the slave masters. Today, two major styles of Capoeira have spread worldwide from Brazil — Angola and Regional. Regional, is known for its fluid acrobatic play, where martial technique and whirling movement dominate. Angola is characterized by slower movements, tricky play and dramatic poses.

wondering when the 2010 Batizado is?
The Batizado in Calgary is May 9, 2010. The workshops are May 7 – 9, 2010.
I was wondering what I should bring and wear if I drop in. What are the age groups for beginners?
Wear loose clothing, like you’d go to the gym or a yoga class. The ages vary in the Basics level class.
Hello,
My girlfriend and I are looking to join Capoeira but we live in Red Deer. I was curious if you knew of any Capoeira classes being taught closer to the Red Deer Region? Thank you.
Scott Boyce
Sorry, I haven’t heard of any capoeira classes in Red Deer.
Hey, I’ve been training capoeira for a number of years in Australia and Brasil with Zambiacongo capoeira, I’ve come to canada to work a snow season near Lake Louise..

I was just wondering if you have or know of any capoeira classes actively training in either lake louise or banff?
Any response would be greatly appreciated! I NEED to keep training!
I’ve been training solo in the work gym but i would really like some people to train with!

There used to be classes in Canmore. Not sure if they are still running.
i spoke to one of the guys who trains in the gym where the classes were.. he said they stopped a fair while back..

i have decided to finish out the snow season then head back to brasil in june probably until march next year
however, there is an ‘occasional’ chance for me to get to calgary, so on one of those off chances, when/where do you guys train and would it be ok to do a drop in class with you?
it unfortunately wouldnt be anything i could plan, but i would love any opportunity to train with fellow capoeiristas!
Salve
